This past winter, the FSTA expanded the mission to encompass a wider breadth of organizations who can all fit within the fan engagement spectrum. In addition to new types of fantasy games, this spectrum can also touch on legalized sports betting varieties. With the impending Supreme Court case decision coming in Q2, we chose to study the demographic similarities & differences between the major areas of interest to our association. We hope you enjoy the findings and hope you can put this knowledge to work in your business.

Right of Publicity – A Continuing Threat to the Fantasy Industry

Hyundai Club, U.S. Bank Stadium
2:20 pm – 2:40 pm

A lawsuit has reached the Indiana Supreme Court with far-reaching implications for the fantasy industry. While the case has several aspects, the most notable is that the plaintiffs wish to restrict the right of publicity–this is the right that allows fantasy sports operators to use player names and statistics in our games. Attorneys Rudy Telscher and Kara Fussner have authored the FSTA’s amicus brief on behalf of the industry and will provide background on the case.
